WE DID IT! HB423/SB676 PASSED

Posted over 9 years ago by Joseph (Joey) Knoll

Congratulations and thanks to all of the people who have worked so hard on this bill! The prescribing and controlled substances bill just passed final vote at 5:53pm! (with only minutes to spare!) The House and Senate finally ironed everything out and The bill is on the way to the governor to be signed!

Stay tuned to further updates about this bill when the final version is avaialable to read! I was able to discuss with Joe Baker, Jr (Director of the florida Board of Nursing) just now the impact this will have on the overall advanced practice nursing enviroment as well as patient outcomes. According to Joe "There is much work to be done before this bill goes into effect January 1st 2017". This will include a advisory committee to decide what drugs CANNOT be prescribed by ARNPs or PAs. This committee will be meeting this summer! According to Joe this will be a difficult and challenging task, but one that is essential and will be given due diligence!

For the members, Joseph Knoll, MSN, ARNP, A-GNP-C Legislative Committee Chair & Social Media & Networking Chair

I don't see our bill listed as one for the governor to sign on his website http://www.flgov.com/wp-content/uploads/pdfs/3.16.16_Bill_Action.pdf Am I missing something?
Also, why will it take until January 2017 when the bill states July of 2016?

I never thought I would see this happen during my career - thank you everyone.
