Central Florida Advanced Nursing Practice Council
Board of Directors Annual Elections
October 17, 2019
Past President: Deborah Tedesco
President: William Warrington
President Elect
Mayble Thomas _____
LaMisa Rayside _____
Write In Candidate ____________________
My name is Mayble Thomas and am Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. I have a background in Pediatrics and NICU as a registered nurse. In my spare time, I love to travel, cook and hang with my family. I have been married for 4 years and have a 2 year old son. Currently, I am teaching Practical Nursing students in Altamonte Springs. I chose to go into the classroom because there is a lack of empowerment to educate and lead nursing students to be the best they can be. The students I teach are coming from all backgrounds and low socioeconomic status. They are fighting the good fight just to make it through nursing school and I hope to support them in every way possible. I am running for President Elect because I want to do more for the community and bring unity between all healthcare professionals. I feel like at this age of my life, I need to do more to contribute and helping this organization CFANPC is one of the many things. I hope to hear everyone’s values and ideas to make this organization a successful one.
LaMisa Rayside, DNP, APRN, ACNP-BC, earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) in 2000 and her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of South Florida (USF) in 2009. Dr. Rayside has 10 years of experience as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner providing care to the critically ill in areas such as the emergency department and intensive care unit. She has been specializing in pain management for the past seven years and has been a preceptor to APRN students in the setting since 2014. She is an active member of Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI), the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), the Florida Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (FSPMR), and the Central Florida Advanced Practice Nurse Council (CFAPNC). She had her quality improvement abstract accepted by the Florida Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (FSPMR) and the Florida Nurse Practitioner Network (FNPN) where she presented at the annual conferences in July and August 2018. Dr. Rayside is passionate about implementing individualized treatment programs that will help reduce pain in patients with chronic pain with a goal to improve quality of life and well-being. Amy Stone______
Write in Candidate ______________________
My name is Amy Stone. I have been a nurse for about 18 years. My career started off as a Licensed Practical Nurse which I learned a lot about medications, time management and wound care. From there I moved to Florida from New Jersey and pursued my ASN through Valencia Community College. I worked as a registered nurse on a progressive care unit and returned to school for my BSN at the University of Central Florida. I went on to become a NP for the primary care adult gerontology population and received my MSN through South University last August of 2018.
Some of my accomplishment were a poster presentation call “Out with the Thigh High in with the Knee High SCD’s” in Chicago for the National Teaching Institute for Critical Care. I also started up a Journal Club at South Seminole Hospital which offered a learning experience for all the nurses and CE’s for a bonus. I have three beautiful children which are all grown up except for my youngest who is 14 and is still at home. I volunteer at Shepherds Hope and my goal is to do a mission trip through Advent Health’s program to Ethiopia or Peru. I enjoy weight training and bike riding.
I enjoy meeting new people and I have a passion for improving the knowledge of to others of how important the role of the Nurse Practitioner is in helping others in the community. Nurse Practitioners are a vital part of our healthcare community and I would love to be chosen for the hospitality position on the Board for the Central Florida Nurse Practitioner Council.

Vernon Langford is a Family Nurse Practitioner from Detroit, MI who now lives and practices in Central Florida (Orlando). A light-hearted clinician, he uses his deeply spiritual nature for his compassionate care while bringing a smile to the faces of those who seek his assistance. He currently works for UHG/Optum as a HouseCalls Primary Care FNP for past almost 5 years. His interests outside of work center around his passions for advancing the scope of practice for Advanced Practice Nurses (APNs) and the colossal need for fixing the disparities that exist in healthcare for Floridians. It is his belief that with strong relationships and a focused vision among clinicians, the seemingly impossible can be accomplished.
