Nurse Practitioner Week
November 10 - 16, 2019
While your hard work, skill, and dedication are evident on a daily basis, this week presents a special opportunity to recognize and celebrate the exceptional care that NPs provide. We encourage you all to seize this opportunity to remind lawmakers of the importance of removing barriers to our practice and permit us to practice to the full extent of our education and experience.
Below is a public service announcement that you can share to enlighten colleagues, employers, the community and lawmakers about the outstanding contributions of the NPs throughout our nation
The role of the nurse practitioner (NP) will be showcased November 10–16, 2019, as NPs across the country celebrate more than 50 years of practice during National NP Week. In the United States, this distinguished group of health care professionals numbers more than 270,000 strong with an additional 28,000 new NPs completing their academic programs in 2019. NP practice offers a unique combination of caring and curing focusing not only on diagnosing and managing acute and chronic illness but by integrating health promotion, disease prevention, counseling, and patient education to help patients make smarter health and lifestyle choices. In communities where baby boomers are becoming seniors in growing numbers and the primary care shortage is real, having access to nurse practitioner health care will become even more important. National NP Week brings to light the significant role nurse practitioners play in the health and wellness of our population.
