Volunteer Oppportunities for CFANPC Members
Hello. I hope everyone is staying safe!
CFANPC has some volunteer opportunities available to members! Our goal is to help the community AND increase the visibility of APRNs.
1)We have begun the CFANPC Fall Food Drive which will run until September 21, 2020. Please help CFANPC in supporting the residents of Central Florida through the Second Harvest Food Bank. There is a critical need for the following items: evaporated milk, canned meats or tuna, nutritional drinks, dried beans, canned soups, canned fruits and vegetables, and pasta and rice. Items can be dropped off at 77 West Underwood, 4th Floor, Orlando Florida (across from ORMC), or at Stevens Kitchens at 1399 West Broadway St. in Oviedo. If you would like to set up a drop-off point in your area, please let me know and we will share the address you provide.
2)The Rainbow Run is a virtual race benefitting the one-Pulse Foundation and honoring all affected by the Pulse nightclub tragedy. It is a 4.9 K race that will take place on Saturday, September. A pre-taped video of the virtual 4.9K Race Route will be available on Facebook at 8 am but you can participate from your neighborhood or a treadmill! If you would like to participate, go to communityrainbowrun.com and register. Packets include a t-shirt, backpack, a finisher medal, and downloadable race bib. If you register, send me confirmation and CFANPC will provide you a rainbow bandana or rainbow socks for as long as supplies last!
3)Operation Best Foot Forward is a grassroots effort to improve pedestrian safety through education, engineering, and enforcement. If anyone is interested in learning about the program, I will be providing an education session so APRNs can help provide education to community groups. Operation BFF is a part of Bike/Walk Central Florida and once we get through the worst of COVID-19, we will be offering a training session for bicycle helmet fittings so we can have groups of APRNs attend events to provide helmets after providing a proper helmet fitting.
4)Finally, if anyone has sewing capabilities and wants to assist, there is an opportunity to make JP drain bags for women undergoing mastectomies. Anyone wishing to assist can request a kit and instructions are provided.
For questions about any of the above, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or text 407.453.0001 with any questions.
Thank you for helping the community and increasing the visibility of APRNS!
