FREE Preceptor Development Course (UCF)

Hello Colleagues,

Several years ago, Dr. Judith Ruland, then coordinator for the Nurse Educator track here at UCF, received a Promise of Nursing Grant from Johnson and Johnson to develop a Preceptor Development Program. That highly successful program has been updated and is now being made available to preceptors in both academic and clinical settings. There have been 8 cohorts of the course since August 2013, offering free continuing education credit to nearly 300 participants since its inception.

The program consists of ten modules presented on the canvas course management system. Each module includes content on the topic, multiple journal articles, web links and other resources relevant to precepting in the clinical setting, and numerous videos demonstrating the concepts and skills highlighted in the program. Participants will also participate in on-line discussions with other participants and the course faculty. Upon completion of the program, each preceptor will receive 30 CEU hours.

The Preceptor Development Program is free and open to all current and future preceptors and clinical faculty in clinical agencies and educational sites. One new start date have been set for this summer on June 8, 2015.
